Choosing your architect is the first step to materialising your vision, and adding tangible value to your project. So how do we realise our ideas in the material world?

Make it real:

  • dream it...

It all begins with an idea. Your architect will use 3D design software, to test the concept within the available regulatory parameters, and help decide the best way to proceed for regulatory approval. At this stage you will be provided drawings that enable you to visualise the design, and ensure that the concept works for your unique needs and wishes. Your architect should provide you with a clearly defined project briefing document early on in the project to ensure that the design achieves all the unique features, spaces and style you’ve requested.

  • draw it...

In order for a builder to build your project, your architect must produce clear and concise drawings and specifications that describe every inch of the design, including all fixtures, finishes and structure. In this stage other specialist consultants are engaged as required in the project, such as structural engineers, landscape architects, interior designers, or others. Your architect’s job during the documentation stage is to coordinate the work of all other consultants into a cohesive developed set of documents. Once these documents are ready, potential building contractors will be able to tender for the construction.

  • build it...

Once a builder has been chosen to construct your project, they will sign a contract to follow the drawings and specifications of the architect, the engineers and any other specialist consultants engaged on the project. The whole set of these documents is compiled and referred to as the contract documents. It is the architect’s job during construction to oversee the work, and clarify any unclear information, or instruct the builder if there are any changes. Your architect will also sign off on the work once completed, and assist the owner by instructing the builder to rectify any defects that appear in the first year of living in the new home.

  • fees...

We know that our client's trust and peace of mind are as important as the quality of our designs and finished buildings. With this in mind, we have designed our scope of work and fee structure to provide for our clients the flexibility, freedom, and assuredness we feel are necessary to make this complex process as easy and enjoyable for you as possible, so you're free to focus on the fun and rewarding parts of the work, and confidently leave the details to us. Our standard fees are based on a percentage of the construction cost, which gives clients the freedom to vary the brief as the project develops.
